Trainees from Estonia
From the 4th to the 16th of October two Estonian students, Kaspar and Andrus, stayed in Bruck where they gained a first insigth into Austrian forestry.
The weather in the first week was really nice - warm, sunny and temperatures similar to summertime. The students were involved into the felling program of our forest workers where they joined them for some sophisticated felling actions especially of trees with big diameters.
In the second week the weather changed completely and suddenly it was very cold and the Lehrforst Lahnhube got a lot of snow. Nevertheless they watched a cable crane in action because they could not imagine what technique we use to bring the trees up from our steep slopes.
It was a good experience for Kaspar and Andrus to work in Austrian forests and a challenge for all involved people to explain them our system of forest management.
