Language trip to California
The 3B decided unanimously for a one-of-a-kind language trip to California. Their goal: to experience as much as possible, cover a large area and to come in contact with a lot of Americans. In November 2015, the students of the 3B flew from the Vienna Airport - through London - to San Francisco, and in 12 days they covered thousands of kilometers. The program brought them to the biggest cities of California, to the majestic National Parks, and even to Las Vegas. At each of these different locations tour guides helped bring the students deep into the American world!
While in the U.S., the students climbed the mountains of the National Parks, admired the biggest and tallest tree in the world, and bathed in the Pacific. They hiked in the snow of the Sierra Nevada, experienced the power of unbelievable waterfalls, and marveled in the man-made world of Las Vegas. They saw both desert and oasis, where they basked in the sunlight. They were swayed by the influences of the big cities, they consumed a bounty of traditional dishes, and even experienced the shopping craze known as Black Friday. The students were astonished by the round-the-clock shopping centers such as Walmart, but at the same time taken back by the vast number of homeless living in boxes on the bridges.
